COVID Specific Rules, Policies, and Procedures: ***
It’s not about you:
As a member of the school and wider community, it is your responsibility to protect your fellow students, school staff, AND their families. Regardless of your vaccination status, it is possible for each one of us to transmit the virus. This is true even if we are asymptomatic and it means that it is feasible for us to bring it home and out into the community. Even if it is unlikely that you will end up sick or hospitalized, it is important to protect the more vulnerable among us. It is for this reason there is a COVID health and safety plan in place that we all must follow. This is the price of in-person learning during a pandemic. This school district and others offer an online option.
Masks:
MASKS ARE TO BE WORN AT ALL TIMES unless you are eating or drinking, and even then, take one side of your mask off, take a bite/sip, and put the mask back on your face. The mask MUST cover your mouth AND nose.
It is advisable to still stay at least 2 meters (6 feet) away from others when feasible. Please respect peoples’ personal space.
Masks should be washed at the end of the day after each use. The two primary methods of washing are:
1. Washing Machine/Dryer a. You can include your mask with your regular laundry. b. Use regular laundry detergent and the cold water setting to avoid shrinking cotton masks. c. Tumble dry on the low heat setting.
2. Handwashing a. Wash the mask thoroughly using soap and cold water. b. Allow the mask to dry completely before reusing it. If possible, place the mask in direct sunlight to dry.
Hygiene:
Practice good hygiene when using shared/borrowed materials and while wearing your mask. Wash your hands with soap and water when you enter the classroom, before you leave the classroom, before and after using any shared materials/equipment, after sneezing or coughing, when your hands are visibly dirty, before you eat, after you eat, and I can’t believe I’m writing this, after using the washroom. Use hand sanitizer when soap and water are unavailable. Washing your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds remains your best option for staying safe from COVID and other communicable illnesses.
Health Check:
Before coming to school each day, you should be completing the self-assessment below:
